Xero reports
and dashboards

Build Xero reports and dashboards for monthly profit and loss, invoices and outstanding balances. Explore your accounting data with Filament.

Your Xero data, connected.

Xero holds your accounting, contacts, invoices, bank transactions and, for Australian organisations, payroll records.

Filament syncs those records into your warehouse and reconstructs a monthly profit-and-loss general ledger for reporting and dashboards.

Invoices and outstanding balances

Your questions, answered.

How should I interpret these reports?
Monthly profit and loss
Compare income and expense totals by account and month. The native general ledger is reconstructed from monthly Profit and Loss reports, so use complete calendar months rather than daily or mid-month journal comparisons. Signed ledger values are negative for revenue and other income, and positive for expenses.
Invoices and outstanding balances
Report on sales invoices and bills by contact, status and currency. Keep current amounts due separate from amounts paid, and distinguish an outstanding-balance snapshot from historical cash collection.
Income and expenses by tracking category
Explore monthly results by the tracking categories assigned in Xero. Show unassigned activity separately so category totals are not mistaken for the full business total.
How do I connect Xero?

The person connecting must be able to authorise the organisation and hold Xero’s reports role.

  1. Open Apps in Filament and add Xero.
  2. Select Connect to Xero and authorise your organisation.
  3. Choose one, two or five years of initial history.
  4. Add any useful account context and complete setup.

Each source uses the first tenant returned by Xero’s consent. Connect each additional organisation separately.

How often does Xero data refresh?

Every six hours. Contacts, accounts, tracking categories and organisation details are refreshed in full; transactions and Australian payroll use Xero's updated-since filters. The current and two prior ledger months are re-read to include late changes.

How far back can the first sync go?

Choose one, two or five years when you set up the connection. The general ledger is requested one calendar month at a time across that period.

Why is the general ledger monthly?

The native connection reconstructs profit-and-loss activity from monthly Profit and Loss reports, rather than Xero’s premium Journals endpoint. Journal dates are the first day of each month; daily, mid-month and balance-sheet journal analysis is unavailable.

What does the person connecting Xero need?

They must be able to authorise the Xero organisation and hold Xero's reports role so the Profit and Loss report can be read. Australian payroll also requires payroll to be provisioned and accessible to the connecting user.

Does Australian payroll sync for every organisation?

No. Employee and leave data is synced only when Xero reports the connected organisation's country as Australia.
